12 February Ian Whittle has been, and still is a licensed pilot. His flying career began in 1952. He will give a generalised description of his progress through the RAF and civil aviation and (probably) frighten everybody by relating a few anecdotes wherein things don’t quite go to plan. There will be an option for members to attend remotely by Zoom. There is a committee meeting in the morning.

08 January Chris Burwell will give his talk: From Schoolboy to Station Commander - a Harrier Pilot’s Career in the RAF. The talk will cover Chris’s RAF career (1969-1999) including his training, his initial tour as a flying instructor and his four tours on the Harrier covering operations from the Arctic Circle to the Falkland Islands and from the US and Canada to Northern Iraq. Hewill also cover the challenges he faced in command of No 1 (Fighter) Squadron followed by his time as Station Commander of RAF Scampton. There is a committee meeting in the morning
